Good news for clean energy in NY State!
NY residents who live in HOA’s that have restricted the installation of solar panels now have the freedom to explore installing solar panels on their homes.
Senate Bill S2997Relates to the installation or use of solar power systems within a homeowners' association was signed into law today by Governor Cuomo.
According to Section Two, this law takes effect 60 days from todays date.
If you live in an HOA that has restricted solar installations, now would be a good time to notify your HOA Board and/or managers to review any current restrictions and remove them from the HOA bylaws — our Board meets monthly at best, so they will need time to discuss and vote on any bylaw changes needed to comply with this new law.
If you live in a state that allows HOA’s to restrict solar power, consider passing along a copy of this bill to your local legislator and perhaps get the ball rolling there.
